Ring Finishes
Our team of jewelry artisans are expertly trained to work with all of our metals and exotic materials. They use our specially developed techniques to make each ring we produce as perfect as possible, and with a billion combinations of metals, inlays, diamonds, and finishes it’s no small feat. There’s no robots, machines, or short-cuts in finishing each ring to order. Every ring is literally made by hand by one or more of our artists we call “finishers,” making each ring truly custom.

Acid
Only for Damascus steel, this process darkens the recessed layers of the 2-layer metal adding contrast and making the pattern really stand out. Can fade over the years.

Angle Satin
Like the Satin finish but applied at approximately a 45 degree angle which catches the light in an interesting pattern.

Angle Stone
Like the Stone finish but applied at approximately a 45 degree angle which catches the light in an interesting way.

Bead
A completely even, smooth and matte finish. Created through a sandblasting technique but using tiny glass beads as the media. Brighter than sand.

Cross Satin
Uniform lines across the surface which creates a bright-cut effect as it catches the light, applied perpendicular to the ring.

Distressed
A random, scratched looking finish with an antique or well-worn appearance.

Hammer
Small, random facets throughout making the surface slightly uneven and creating a more textured look.

Machine
Designed with the help of a cutting tool while the ring is spinning, giving it a “machined” cut look.

Polish
Classic, high-polish or mirror-like finish

Recessed Polish
Only applies to small precious metal inlays- a polished finish that is slightly recessed from the main metal of the ring.

Rock
Our most textured, aggressive finish. Random but patterned facets hand-cut in to the metal.

Rock Polish
The same as Rock, but each facet is polished and slightly smoother overall.

Sand
A completely matte finish, very even, without lines like a satin finish. Applied by literally sandblasting the metal. Similar to, but darker than the Bead finish.

Satin
A simple, semi-matte finish, often called brushed. The even lines throughout the metal gives it a subtle alternative to the classic polish while still being smooth and simple.

Stipple
Completely covers the metal with tiny pits that creates a pebbled kind of texture. Resembles a rough concrete, or stone.

Stone
Coarse but even, stone is a textured finish that is not as random nor as aggressive as a Rock finish or Treebark.

Treebark 1
Dramatic hand-carved lines that run across the width of a ring forming a bark like look. It’s very textured to the touch, without being rough against the skin.

Treebark 3
Like the other Treebarks, a randomized hand-scraped look, but slightly more aggressive in depth. It’s highly polished which catches the light making it striking from every angle.

Treebark H
Like the Treebark 1, but runs parallel with the ring, completing the circle.
